This is my personal headcanon for sparks, sparkmergeing and sparklings for Transformers, to be available for use in RP and for general accessibility.
I do welcome intelligent debate regarding this, but no flaming please
Sparks
Sparks are made up of energy that exists in multiple forms. At the most dense and power yielding are the crystalline structures in the spark, which have a hyper condensed amount of energy, but the energy is not in use at the time and requires conversion into the next form down to be used, which can happen within nanoseconds. These crystalline forms are often referred to as spark crystals.
The next form of energy in the spark is plasma, which creates the bulk of the spark, this form is a transitional form, if the plasma becomes too dense in a particular spot it will crystallize, or if it becomes to thin it will convert down to the next form. While the plasma state is the most prolific, the energy is generally only half of what is untapped in the crystals, which provides a form of checking the strain on a spark.
The least and final form of the energy is a high powered electrical charge, which is what expands through the body to provide function.
Like blood the energy is limited, can be produced by the body, can be exhausted, but also primarily routes back into the spark, rather then being expended automatically with each movement. In this way the spark also holds the essence of who and what the transformer is, it is a combined body facet that not only acts as a source of energy, but a source of being, the brain module is simply a conduit for the the spark's expression and a way to house specific memories. A spark alone can be transplanted, but only echos of vague memories from the bots past life will still exist in them, but if a spark and brain module are transferred then the bot has a high chance of existing as they did previous, but this kind of operation is not lightly done due to risks involved.
Sparkmerging
Sparkmerging, or spark sex, happens when two individuals expose their raw sparks to one another, during spark sex the spark accesses the brain module to expose memories and though patterns to the other, the extra access and energy flow having the byproduct of a high level of euphoria which often climaxes in an overload. Physically the sparks touch and merge at both the low and mid energy levels, merging and transferring small portions of the material between them.
Prolonged exposure or repeated exposure between two sparks causes the amount of spark material transferred to act as a bond between the two bots, as the foreign spark energy is still connected to it's origin and becomes integrated in with the new spark. Spark bonds, as these are called, are often considered permanent and generally are not altered after they are formed. Despite this, there are some methods to terminating an unwanted spark bond, though they pose high risk, as they require the removal of the spark material gained from the partner spark.
Sparklings
Sparklings are created during a sparkmerge. They are formed when the spark energies of both sparks concentrate heavily in a single point, forming a core crystal that contains energies from both donors. After the formation of this core crystal, when the partners separate the crystal adheres to one or the other spark, being fed energy which it converts into it's own unique signature. A newspark is made up of a high concentration of crystals with a minimal amount of plasma, creating a highly dense spark crystal that, once it is of a suitable size and energy yield, can be transferred into a new body to begin it's own unique existence.
Newsparks have the ability to be transferred between partners during a spark merge, allowing a shared duty to carry and care for the newspark. They require extensive exposure to a third spark that is not one of it's creator sparks to transfer successfully to them, as such surrogate sparks are only used when there is no other option available.
Because a newspark is formed by the concentration of energies from both donors each newspark is unique in the ratio of spark energies used in it's formation. Spark twins happen after the newspark has formed, when there are a few spark crystals in it's creation and only when an even number are available, the newspark splits naturally into two, both sharing the same ratios and spark wavelengths.
Termination of a newspark, while not encouraged, can happen. It takes the willful choice of the carrier to direct their energies away from the newspark for a time until the tenuous stability of the newspark fails and it dies out. This often causes the now dead spark crystal to become a form of infection, and if it is not removed, and the carrier is not careful to keep their energy directed away from the crystal, it will become a septic infection that can cause death of the carrier.
