( Sweet Emotion )
He could barely remember now what started the fight, some comment by a mech, in passing, about their relationship, disapproving of Starscream more so then himself. The out come of that comment had been a cascading frustrating between the both of them, minor things seemed so much larger and more important then they had before. They never progressed to yelling, or worse, blows, but it had resulted in a heavy and dark silence between them; which stifled one of the things he was most fond of, debating topics with Starscream.
Then he had made the mistake of agreeing to a project that would take him away for a while, thinking the space was what he needed. It seemed like the exact opposite. Leaving that silence behind hadn’t been freeing, it had haunted his every thought, he often found himself wondering what would happen if that silence and their fight before hand ended up being the last thing one or the other of them had to remember them with. The separation, and more so the idiocy of letting something like that grow into this big of a fight, weighed on his ember and he found his recharge very under-satisfying. For the last few cycles all he had thought about was getting back home and going and fixing things with Starscream.
He made it to his door without incident, most likely the mechs that had been around him catching his inner focused thoughts and giving him peace to go through them. Taking a moment to steel himself, incase the time apart had left Starscream just as upset or more so, he focused on what he wanted to do. Opening the door he stepped inside and looked around, only he and Starscream could get into the house without requesting entrance from one of the occupants so instead of calling out his return he headed further inside. Fortunately he didn’t have to look far for who he was looking for, and had the added benefit of finding the other didn’t have guests.
Starscream was sitting in one of the two overly comfortable chairs in their side reading room, where they often liked to spend their evenings, either in peaceful quiet or wrapped in friendly debate of what ever topic struck them that day. The chair Starscream was sitting in had him positioned so that his back was to the room entrance, hiding his face, but Megatron had long ago learned to interpret many signs his wings gave off. They where held out at their widest, the very tips of them shivering with rapid twitches; either he was overly agitated, excited or nervous, and he was hoping for one of the latter two.
In a small twist of irony the chair he occupied was actually one that had been gifted to Megatron, fully large enough to seat him comfortably. This meant that Starscream looked positively tiny, sitting in it like he was.
When he didn’t move or say anything to either welcome or send Megatron away the larger mech decided he was being given a chance, and that what he did here could fuel where they went from here. He accepted it as a gift and stepped into the room, making his way to the back of the chair. His hand slid gently to the top of Starscream’s shoulder, thumb rubbing the hinge point for his wings and feeling the way he practically vibrated with tension. The touch had prompted Starscream to stiffen up and he seemed resolute in not turning or looking at Megatron right now.
‘I wonder what he thinks is going to happen now. It’s almost like he is afraid, does he think I am going to leave him?’ he wondered to himself for a short moment.
Deciding not to leave the other waiting too much longer he bent forward until the front of his helm rested lightly on the top of Starscream’s. He only hesitated a moment before he pressed a light kiss to the helm, something he had picked up from the human transmissions and liked doing quite a bit, giving Starscream kisses on his hands or cheeks. That done he finally spoke.
“I’m sorry,” The body wide flinch he felt seemed to confirm his previous wonderings. “I don’t know why I got so upset, but I’m sorry. I never want to do that again. I shouldn’t have gotten upset, and I shouldn’t have left without resolving this. I don’t like fighting with you, it’s more painful then any fight I ever had against Prime.”
He waited there, optics offline, giving him time to think over what had been said, to absorb it and form his own response. He had learned early on that the most honest answers from Starscream where gained shortly after whatever the event was, before logic reasserted itself, but also that if he pushed to far to fast it could backfire badly. He let go and stood up straight as Starscream pulled away and stood up himself. Onlining his optics he looked off to the side a moment, not sure if he wanted to see what was there when Starscream turned to him, but the need to know soon out weighed his fear and he looked up at him.
The vast range of emotions, want, need, fear, sadness, love, joy and many others, that flitted across the jet’s face in that moment made him look so young and fragile, even more so because it was fairly certain he had no idea he was even doing it. Megatron just wanted to wrap him into a hug, settle down into the chair together and not let him go, even forgo work the next day in favor of staying home and proving how much he wanted and loved Starscream by his side forever.
He was so absorbed in the other’s expressions he nearly missed when Starscream moved around the chair to stand in front of him, Megatron having turned a bit to follow his movement. The smaller flyer hesitated a moment before quickly closing the remaining gap to hug him, arms held tight to him and his helm pressed to Megatron’s chest. Without even pausing to think one of his own arms slipped over the other’s shoulder to lay down his back, and the other came up to let his hand cup that helm comfortingly.
“I’m sorry too, I shouldn’t have listen to what others were saying when you were right beside me saying it wasn’t true. I missed you and felt so bad that I hadn’t talked to you before you left.” Listening to Starscream’s words gave him an idea of how desperate he had sounded, for it to be over, to be forgiven, to know that there was still love between them.
“It’s alright, my Star, I forgive you. I’m sorry that you got hurt by any of that at all.”
“I forgive you too.”
Megatron tilted back and looked down at Starscream, waiting for him to look up and when he did he smiled until he got one in return, which didn’t take long at all.
“So, we are done fighting, right?”
“Yes.”
